Arjan van der Meer is Vice President of Technology for Travel and Lifestyle Services at American Express, where he leads technology strategy for global travel and lifestyle platforms that support premium customer experiences. Since joining American Express in 2019, Arjan has helped transform the company’s consumer travel technology landscape, modernising platform architecture and enabling new digital capabilities across travel, servicing, payments, dining, and lounge experiences. His work focuses on building scalable technology foundations that connect customer needs with business growth. Arjan brings more than 25 years of international experience in internet and travel technology, spanning startups and large-scale global organisations. Before joining American Express, he was Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer at Dreamlines, a VC-funded online cruise travel company based in Germany. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade at Agoda, part of Booking Holdings, where he helped scale technology capabilities in one of the world’s leading online travel businesses. He is known for his hands-on leadership style, close partnership with product and business teams, and commitment to advancing engineering practices that help teams deliver at scale. Arjan graduated from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and also studied in Helsinki, Finland.
