Lakshmi Isukapally is Vice President and Principal Architect for Enterprise Data Architecture and Data Management at American Express, where she defines the enterprise architecture strategy for data, analytics, governance, and data platforms to advance the company's AI-ready data ecosystem. She serves as the principal architect for several of the company's most strategic initiatives, including enterprise data management, semantic architecture, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), financial crimes investigation modernization, and Generative AI data agent platforms. Since joining American Express in 2015, Lakshmi has held leadership roles across enterprise data platforms engineering, enterprise architecture, and enterprise data strategy, including leading the engineering teams that built foundational capabilities for the Lumi data platform. Her expertise spans enterprise data platforms, cloud architecture, data governance, semantic technologies, AI governance, and large-scale distributed systems, with a continued focus on knowledge graph strategy, AI-ready data governance, and production-scale enablement. Lakshmi is the recipient of the Ed Gilligan Award for Innovation in recognition of her contributions to technology and innovation at American Express. She is also a frequent speaker on enterprise data and AI, presenting at industry conferences including the Grace Hopper Celebration, DATAVERSITY, and the DGIQ Data & AI Governance Conference.
